Soms is afstand groter dan je zou willen

Iemand van wie je houdt kan ver bij je vandaan begraven liggen. Aan de andere kant van het land, over de grens of zelfs duizenden kilometers verderop.

Misschien zou je graag wat vaker naar het graf van je vader, moeder, kind, partner, familielid of vriend willen gaan, maar maakt de afstand dat moeilijk of onmogelijk.

Tegelijkertijd woont er misschien vlak bij die begraafplaats iemand die graag iets voor een ander wil betekenen.

Across the Distance brengt jullie bij elkaar.

Via TroostMoment brengen we nabestaanden in contact met vrijwilligers die in de buurt van de begraafplaats van hun dierbare wonen.

Wat daarna ontstaat, bepalen jullie samen.

Misschien gaat iemand eenmalig naar het graf. Misschien op een verjaardag of sterfdag. Misschien af en toe om een foto te maken, een bloem neer te leggen of gewoon even namens jou aanwezig te zijn.

Er zijn geen verplichtingen. Het gaat om een klein gebaar van mens tot mens — of er nu 100 of 10.000 kilometer tussen jullie zit.

Sometimes the distance is greater than you would like

Someone you love may be buried far away from you. On the other side of the country, across the border, or even thousands of kilometres away.

Perhaps you would like to visit the grave of your father, mother, child, partner, relative or friend more often, but the distance makes this difficult or impossible.

At the same time, there may be someone living close to that cemetery who would be happy to do something meaningful for another person.

Across the Distance brings you together.

Through TroostMoment, we connect families and loved ones with volunteers who live near the cemetery where their loved one is buried.

What happens after that is something you decide together.

Perhaps someone visits the grave just once. Maybe on a birthday or the anniversary of their passing. Or perhaps they visit from time to time to take a photo, leave a flower, or simply be there on your behalf.

There are no obligations. It is simply a small gesture from one person to another — whether the distance between you is 100 or 10,000 kilometres.
